Summer Brings Big Cats

Summer heat has pushed the trout down below 30ft, bass have spread after a great spring spawn (high lake, lots of new natural habitat) and now we’re seeing catfish warm up!

A few weeks ago John Lowry and Dennis Banisa caught some beauties on nightcrawlers while Frank and Bobby managed a double limit of trout trolling worms down deep:

The biggest fish caught last month were catfish – A MASSIVE 22 pound catfish caught from the shore by Garren Foster of Ukaiah and a long slender 8.5 pound cat hooked and reeled by Abby McMinn who was fishing with a dropshot rig.

Tommy and Samuel showed off a pair of catfish caught on sardines:

There were a few trout caught in the last half of the month including Jesse & Jessica who caught both a lightning trout and a rainbow trout using orange Powerbait; Casey & Morgan who caught a two, Ty Buck reeled in in yet two more on green powerbait and Nick Collins Wright with Kamea who netted a single trout while trolling a needlefish:

Finally we had quite a few people reporting good bass activity all over the lake, for one, Dale Mansfield who showed us five caught near the dam:

And finally, Hunter and Tome Wickum who caught this boatload using purple roboworms:

With the lake only 13ft from full it looks like we may be shaping up for a great late main season as well.

It’s been ideal for Kayaks & Paddleboard (your can rent one here or bring your own) With schools seemly starting earlier than ever, we’ll start to see quite a bit of weekday availability in the campground, and even on the lakefront.

Wherever you are make sure to get outside and have some fun!
