Collins Lake

This week, after what I would characterize as a very slow second half of September, we received our first fall trout plant of 1000 pounds.  Planters will eventually head down to cooler water but typically you can still find quite a few patrolling the shorelines the first few days after a plant, especially as the surface temperature continues to drop – since we’re on a weekly schedule I expect to see shore fishing pick up quite a bit now through Thanksgiving.

While we anticipate this increased activity enjoy these pictures from last week;  October 7th Emma from Brentwood beat the odds, reeling in a 1.35 pound Rainbow trout on Pink PowerBait.  The next day, along with Lany & Kylie she came back up with a second trout also caught on pink PowerBait.  My advise?  Use what Emma’s using…  pink PowerBait!

Jeff & Terry reported catching a few trout daily from the shoreline down in front of campsite #220 using mostly white powerballs.  They said they’re catching enough for dinner and a few to share with their neighbors.

We’ve got some more catfish to show off, with Brian Bender landing a 10.5 pounder fishing near the dam with worms and Troy Hoepner from Oroville with 10, 8 and 5 pounds fish caught using lil’ smokey sausages right out in front of campsite #484

There have been a few bass caught as well, mostly under 15″ using lures in shallow water.
