Collins Lake

February Fun!! Weather was warm for a few weeks so we decided to start our private weekly plants early. The plants are coming from a private hatchery where the fish will be around 5 to 8 pounds in size. The weekly plants usely start mid Feb. thru the end of May every year. We also have our farm fish that will be planted mid March and April too. SO… we better not here there is NO FISH out there!

Here is the list of people who did very well Catching fish!!

Ellen Takeuchi of Foresthill caught a 4 lb. 13 oz trout by the beach using a mouse tail.  Jim Fleenor caught a 3 3/4 lb trout using powereggs fishing down by the group area called the watersedge.  Skip Bellah caught a nice 5 1/2 lb trout and a 4 1/2 lb trout trolling with flickerchad and worms.  David Pokrant of Roseville limited out by the dam using green powerbait.  Chris Hazen nad Dan Fitlin caught a 3 lb trout and a 2 lb trout  by the beach using powerbait.  Eric Sakowicz of Naveda City caught 2 1/2 lb trout by the beach.  Bonnie and Leroy Mudrick of Oroville caught 2 trout using rainbow powerbait off the beach.  Jessie of Red Bluff caught 3 trout in the middle of the lake.  John Schembari caught a nice big 5.25 lb trout in the middle of the lake floating minnows and Cheryl Schembari caught one bass and one crappie too.  Napa ranch 4H caught a nice 4 1/2 lb trout in elmers cove.  Weston Burton of Grass Valley caught a nice 5 3/4 lb trout using worms off the beach.  David Bunting of Yuba City caught 5 1/2 lb trout and a 2 1/4 lb trout using powerbait by the dam.  Charlie Moore of Yuba City caught a nice big 5.6 oz trout by the beach using powerbait.  Dell Parker of Lincoln caught 4 3/4 lb trout using firetiger rapallas.  Roland Harrison of Grass Valley was kayaking in the middle of lake limited out.  Winston Hubert of Sacramento caught a limit using powerbait by the open area.  Joy Beebe caught 2 nice trout using orange powerbait.  Sonnie and his dad of Oroville caught 4 3/4 lb trout trolling.  Jeff Kahoalii of Sacramento caught 2 nice trout using powerbait by the dam.  Jennifer of Marysville caught a nice 2 1/2 lb trout trolling with a firetiger rapalas.  Wyatt Sinclair caught a 2 lb trout down by the dam using crankbait.  Hank and Ava  caught 2 bass and a 2 lb crappie.
