We’ve all heard a story about the one that got away and as many times as I’ve heard one, they never get old!!   Larry Wright and his wife were shore fishing by the dam when Larry hooked the biggest trout (a 7 pounder) and when it didn”t fit on his metal stringer cause the hook couldn’t lock in through the gill he put it on a rope instead.  His wife said when they went to collect their fish for the day out of the water, the big one was gone!!  Luckily they got a picture before it decided to escape, if anyone catches it and his rope is still wrapped in the gill Larry says “hope you enjoy it” and remember the story of the “one that got away” !!!

Phillip Baldwin & his friend Reid Gabhardt “got skunked” on their 1st day of fishing only to wake up early the next day and hook a 7 pound Rainbow on Powerbait from their campsite!! On the third day they caught a 5 lb. 8 oz. Catfish in the same spot on chartreuse Powerbait.  (Featured as Photo of the Week), great job guys!!

Eric Liske hooked another big trout, his was 5 lb. 10 oz. and he was in a boat using Powerbait on the east side. The east side produced some huge trout these past two weeks especially for Ricardo Gomez and his friends.  The also fish with Powerbait and their biggest ones weighed 6-1/2 lb., 6-1/4 lb., and 4 lbs.

Megan Walden of Auburn topped her 3 trout stringer with a 4 lb. 8 oz. bow and she trolled with broken back Rapalas on the east side in the big cove before heading up to the bridge.  Zac Foster holds the biggest fish of this week which began on Monday, his is 5 lb. 4 oz. and he trolled a Rapala as well, up closer to the bridge.  Each week of the monthly contest for March, April, & May will start on a Monday and end on Sunday at closing.  If you are the biggest of that week your name goes into a hat and at the end of each month one winner will be drawn for that month.  The winner will receive a free Partyboat for a whole day!!

Ken Tarr got his name in the hat for the first week in March for the biggest trout with his 6 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow. Ken was tossing a Kastmaster from shore at the bridge and caught several trout that day along with his wife Marcy.  Tom Navone of Roseville fished in front of the 200’s sites and hooked a 5 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow on orange PowerEggs.  Congrats to Aiden Villegas on catching his 1st Fish EVER, on Powerbait he landed a 4 lb. trout.  Logan Lomas was very happy with his trout which he caught on a Kastmaster.

“Bird Dog” is the only name given to me by a fisherman who caught a 7 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow while drifting with worms in his boat.  Vic & Michael of Loma Rica discovered the trick for catching trout is a 3″ pink Power Worm while trolling, they both limited out.  Vic’s brother Dennis caught 4 on the pink worms trolling on top.

Juan Urrego & his family caught a nice limit of trout, using Powerbait in the Open Area.  Miguel Lopez from Roseville brought Kortni along for good luck and this little lady worked her magic, they caught a 6 lb. 7 oz. Rainbow and two other trout by the dam on garlic Powerbait.

Smiling Harold Kopp of Oroville was so thrilled with his 6 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow, and who wouldn’t be??  Larry Davis & James Lamontague trolled up by the bridge with shad lures and their biggest Trout weighed 5 lb. 8 oz.  Raylene Dagit of Marysville showed the guys how it’s done, she hooked her 6 lb. trout trolling a flasher with a worm just off the beach.
