2011 ended with our “Fall-Winter” plants totalling 9,000 pounds of trout.  The New Year has brought lots of rain already plus another F & G plant last week.  It was a 2,000 pound load of 4,000 fish (approx. 1/2 size) and our customers are catching their limits with Powerbait from shore or lures while trolling.  F & G will continue to plant at least once a month and Collins Lake will do our first private plant with trophy sized fish the week before President’s Weekend which is prior to Feb. 18th.  Please don’t call our office inquiring about specific “plant dates” as we do not get that information ahead of time.  We can let you know if we already received a plant but cannot predict plant days before it happens.

Brenden Jerson  & family of Martinez was trolling a Kastmaster by the dam and they took home 9 Rainbows and so did Austin, Ali,  & Ben of Chico.  Danae, John & Ron of Marysville fished by the dam on using nightcrawlers and netted 12 trout total.   Chuck Lentz caught two hefty trout and his biggest weighed in at 2 lbs. 8 oz. which he caught by his campsite.

Lux Peterson landed the biggest trout this month so far, it was a 5 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow caught right off the sandy beach on orange Powerbait.  The Alvis guys from Antelope fished every week for the past three weeks and they limited out every single time from the beach using Powerbait.

The Lowe kids collectively caught a limit of trout by the beach using Powerbait.  Karson Eby didn’t leave empty handed either, he caught a trout off the beach on Powerbait.  Ryan Miller & big brother Robert Krinkie caught a trout with an “ice cream tag” on rainbow Powerbait over at the bridge.   Devan Jimerson of Browns Valley fished off the shore by the dam using Powerbait and landed a nice trout.

Tommy Ford & Jeff Sharp caught 4 Bass  & 3 trout.  They used  the “Alabama Rig” which is a a rig made by Mann’s and you attach  a swimbait or other type of lure. Sounds like they had a blast and left with plenty of fish.  Duke & Lucas Le spent some quality time together while trolling Needlefish near the surface and captured 8 Rainbows!!

Old Thomas & young Thomas Patton trolled with worms about 15′ down and hooked 5 Rainbow trout.  Casey & Lucy Fuhrman of Loomis found just the right trolling pattern that worked for them.  With flashers and nightcrawlers in tow they netted 9 trout before the day ended. Madison & Reagan also had great luck with flashers and nightcrawlers down toward the dam (5 trout total)!!

Sorry it took so long to get this report updated, I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again!!
