Trout or Turkeys or Both

Lots of fish were reported this week, mostly Trout.   Most bank fishermen are using either worms on a bobber or floating worms or Powerbait off the bottom.  On overcast days they seem to be on the bottom and sunny days you’ll see them jumping on top.  Twins Luke & Jake Moore of Citrus Heights caught their trout on worms and a bobber in front of their campsite.  Thank you Lyle for sending cellphone photos of your great looking Bass of you and another or Robert’s.  They caught and released them and both of them looked to be in the four to five pound range.  Lyle McDaniel & Robert Hampton were fishing in approx. 20′ of water and using a Fat Gitzit (smoked crawfish color).

Blake Ferguson of Browns Valley returned this week and caught another trout in his “secret spot” using worms on a bobber.   A local guy John Kuntz caught the biggest trout this week trolling a Rapala by the bridge, it weighed in at 3 lbs. 12 oz.   Kenneth, Lee, & Lonnie caught eleven trout total using red or pink lemonade Powerbait from shore.

Sisters, Taylor & Brooklyn had a fantastic week of fishing.  They caught fish everyday and Taylor used her “lucky red fishing pole and Brooklyn used her Popop’s “honey stick” fishing pole.  Madison & Paityn caught a limit of trout using all different colors of Powerbait.

Jeremy & Nick Ainger limited out on trout  using Kastmasters by the marina and they were trolling near the launch ramp.  Terry Malone of Yuba City fished off shore from the Open Area using nightcrawlers and took home three nice trout.   Marsha, Eric & Anna hit the fish plant and caught a nice stringer of trout on lures from the shore.  Austin & Kylie also caught 6 trout using Kastmasters on one and Powerbait on the other by the beach.

Fish & Game brought ALL the net pen fish this week and with help of our camper kids and local kids all 12 net pens got filled up with buckets of trout.  They will stay in their net pens throughout the winter and spring when they will be released when they reach approx. three pounds in size.  F & G  also planted 1,0oo lbs. of catchable trout  for us to catch right away on Tuesday of this week.

Chris Hazen & his friend Danny caught 7 Rainbows yesterday using spinners or Powerbait and Bud Light!! Tanner Rose bagged a limit of Trout, 4 on Tuesday and 1 on Wednesday and his sisters Cassie & Macy caught one each before giving up due to casting problems and the wind.  David Federchyk of SAC used rainbow Powerbait and limited out (5 total) on trout by the dam.

David Bunting of Colusa got a nice surprise while shore fishing by the dam for trout, he hooked a catfish that weighed 6 lb. 4 oz. instead of a trout.  Jerry Payne of Vacaville gets kudos for the biggest fish this week, his monster catfish tipped the scales at 10 lbs. 4 oz.  He was fishing near the boat launch with a floating worm.

Today is rainy and overcast but starting tomorrow it’s nothing but sunny days ahead so ladies go shopping and send your men and kids fishing!!
