Just remember- 30 feet down

[slideshow id=414]

The magic number this week is 30 for depth of the fish, especially the Trout.  Erika & Mallory of Petaluma drifted 30′ down in the middle of the lake using chartreuse powerbait and caught 8 Rainbows.  The Anderson family anglers produced multiple Trout catches this week including 30 yesterday.  Told you that number was special!!!  So is their family, the little 4 boy cousins I re-named from Dylan, Donovan, Danny, & Blain to the Collins Lake Power Rangers!  They use Powerbait to catch their fish, and they have super powers (or luck) when it comes to filling their quotas.

Stefan Braun fished near the bridge with powerbait and hooked a Trout, also Johnny Kennedy of Pacifica.  Roxanne Cunningham of Antioch & her cohort Nichole Dominguez each caught a Trout trolling flashers and worms.  Sounds like they were in one of my favorite places to troll which is on the east side just up from the dam. There is a ledge about 50 ft. from shore that drops off quickly from 35 to 65 feet and the Trout seem to hang out there during the summer months.

Tim, Jake, Madison, & Glory were surprised to catch their Trout from the marina while fishing with Anchovies which is primarily used to catch Catfish not Trout.  Jordan Pennyengton fished by the marina using yellow powerbait.  Little Ty Buck of Perris, Ca. caught a Trout almost as big as him.  Tanner & Matt, also from Perris used green powerbait by the dam and also caught a nice Trout.

Elmer’s Cove (just north of our  campground) produced a 2 lb. Trout for Johnny Vize.  Just one Catfish was brought up for a photo this week and was caught after dark by the launching ramp by Luis Gutierrez of Fremont and he used chicken livers for bait.
