Memorial Weekend will be sunny

This weekend we are expecting 70 degree weather after a week of rain off and on it will be a blessing for the Memorial Day campers and fishermen as well.  Despite the rain we had some great fishing this week and the best places for Trout is the bridge or wherever there is a runoff coming down the mountains.  Toss them some worms or powerbait for the best action in these areas.

Jaceson Smith & his boys Jesse & Jacob returned to their favorite hole by the power lines towards the bridge and caught 4 Trout on powerbait and their biggest was 4 lb. 8 oz.  Little Walker & his Papa trolled Apex lures and limited out on Trout and a 4 lb. Trout topped their stringer.

Robert Alvis & his Dad Alan from Antelope trolled Rapalas on the east shore and took home a limit of Rainbows.  Joe Duran fished from shore with powerbait and caught a 3 lb. 8 oz. Trout.  Micheale Chamberlin of Woodland went out with Lee & Gerri Refsland of Woodland and they all caught fish on Tuesday over 3 lbs.

Leslie Gaines of SAC nailed the fishing this week, catching a variety of fish but mostly bass on live crawdads.  She also hooked a Bluegill and a Catfish on crawdads.  Amanda & Kylie of Penn Valley each caught a Trout and one was 3 lb. 4 oz. trolling orange Kastmasters.

Lauren Wegner found some Bass this week too but the funny thing is she was trolling with either a Needlefish or a Rapala for Trout.  Bass & Trout are still pretty shallow and shore fishing is great, we had our last Trout plant on Monday of this week.  Brianna Rathburn of Citrus Heights tried trolling yellow power eggs and scored big with a 3 lb. Rainbow.  Zack & Kendall of Elk Grove caught a limit of Bass from their campsite tossing plastic worms.

Miguel & his baby niece Marisela of W. SAC pulled in a 3 lb. Trout off the dock which they baited with powerbait.  David Bunting of Colusa fished in the Open Area with chartreuse powerbait and nailed a limit of Trout, his big one weighed in at 3 lb. 8 oz.  Chuck White of Antioch topped the trout chart this week with a 5 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow he netted by the bridge and caught on a gold Kastmaster.

Thank You to Frank Isaac who emailed his photos to me from his Blackberry while on the lake with John Hightower who caught a 4 lb. Rainbow and released it back!!  Frank told me his Trout was about 4 lb. 2 oz. (slightly bigger than John’s) !!  OK Frank I get the picture!!
