Our fish planting for Trout is nearing the end but massive amounts of fish are still reaching our camera lens on a daily basis!  Rob Briseno of SAC takes his fishing to the limit with 5 Rainbows, trolling Rapalas. The Krafty Duo, David & Erik Kraft each take a monster Trout from trolling Rapalas shallow. David with a 5 pounder an Erik with a 6 pounder completes their father and son fish-a-thon!

Alan Lowe of Orland caps his stringer with a 4 lb. Rainbow, trolling Crocodile lures.  Duane Casita of Volcane knocks the socks off the Hazen clan at their annual fishout with an 8 lb. 8 oz. Trout which he caught off the beach. Carl & Don Purdy had a fantastic day of fishing off the Water’s Edge campground, they caught 9 Trout total.

Another father & son team, Mike Harris & son Jeff of Roseville have been here every single week for the past 5 weeks and each week have increased their catches. They have graduated from a 3 stringer to a 10 stringer and obviously improved their technique, they fish from shore using  powerbait.

Sister Elli & brother Evan Cockrum hooked a 3 lb. 8 oz. from the beach on rainbow powerbait.  David, Francisco, & John of Woodland used the same method and took home six Rainbows.  Makeo Garcia (3 yrs. old) of Manteca outshined his group with his 2 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow Trout hooked right in his campsite on powerbait. Makayla Azadian & her Grandpa Mica Fish caught some Trout in her campsite or trolling with Kastmasters, the biggest one weighed in at 4 lb. 4 oz.

Chuck Brooks of Suisun caught a 9 lb 12 oz. CATFISH in the Open Area. The lake is warming quickly and the Catfish are finally on the prowl. Ken Borello & Vern Harms of Grass Valley got into some Catfish too, they used Anchovies and took out 5 Cats and the two biggest ones were 8 lbs. each.  They fished from a boat along the east bank after dark.

Bass fishing has been HOT this week, the females are on their beds and the males are aggressively in their protection mode.  Most people will catch & release this time of year so they have a chance to spawn properly. Mitchell Sill & Nicole McCoy caught two Trout along with a 2 lb. Bluegill in the Open Area using powerbait.

Ray & Margaret Johnson of SAC have been here awhile and have been doing an incredible job of catching Trout and helping others catch fish as well.  Margaret single-handidly caught a monster 5 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow all by herself!!   Another lady, Gerry Miller of Paradise caught a beautiful 4 lb. Rainbow on a Kastmaster she weas trolling 10′ down by the dam.

Bill Debo of Woodland hasn’t “lost his touch” as he proved he could still catch his limit of Trout  in his “secret spot” using worms.  A limit of Trout went to Mike Ramon of Yuba City as well and he was fishing at the bridge using orange powerbait.  Another limit was taken by Bob Crawford of Chico and his biggest was 3 lb. 8 oz. and Bob fishes with powerbait on the east side from his boat.

Alan Alvis of Antelope along with his son Robert Alvis love to troll in the spring and always catch fish.   This trip they topped their stringer with a 4 lb. 8 oz. and a 3 lb. 8 oz. Trout.  Mark Fredrickson & Leslie find the east shore up from the dam as a hot spot for Bass.  They each hooked a limit of Bass on crawdads-THE BASS LOVE EM!

Mike Kolko of Hollister brought his son-in-law on their first official “guys fishing and bonding time” and Brad Husted of Sparks, Nv. (son-in-law) was an excellent student!  They caught 7 Rainbow Trout and Mike’s biggest was a 4 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow, which Brad netted of course.  Good thing he didn’t flub that one!

Nhotsay & Jay Xiong found a great spot on the beach and each limited on Trout using powerbait -their big one was a 4 pounder!  John & Cheryl Schembari of Pacifica fished with nightcrawlers on a bobber by the bridge and brought in 2 limits of Bass (20′ down).  Cameron Gibbs of Chico hooks a 7 lb. 8 oz. Trout using power eggs from the sandy beach.
