Triple Trophy Plant for Easter Weekend

[slideshow id=264]

Spring has sprung and there is no “going back” !! The grass is green, the lake is near full, fish plants have increased and it just doesn’t get any better than this! We have experienced scattered showers all week so come prepared for a burst from above then shortly after appears puffy white clouds and blue skies.

Josh Knieriem of Granite Bay started the week with the scale set so high nobody could get near him. He and his Grandpa Don Maciel and Uncle Ron Maciel (3 generations) fished for just a few hours and ALL LIMITED OUT on Trout. Josh’s stringer topped out with two monster Trout (an 8 lb. & a 10 lb.) which he caught on Kastmasters from shore by the beach.   Right behind him came Bill Cunningham of Oroville with his 8 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow Trout caught on 4 lb. test down by the dam using Powerbait.

Three guys from the Grass Valley area, Chris, Max & Mario caught a stringer of Trout together and the largest was 4 lbs.  They fished from shore by the dam using green chartreuse powerbait.   Another nice surprise happened to Mark Contreras of Wheatland who was specifically BASS fishing with Senko worms when he hooked a 7 lb. Trout!

Rick Best of Castro Valley is totally HOOKED ON COLLINS LAKE  now that he is actually CATCHING FISH…..From shore he hooked two Trout, one was 2 lb. 12 oz. & one was 2 lb. 8 oz. and a Bonus Bass as well, using Sherbert powerbait or worms.

Jim Livengood  of Lincoln had his buddy Mark Duby follow him up to help put his boat in the water so while Mark was here they went fishing for awhile and Mark landed a 6 lb. 12 oz. Trout, making his trip worthwhile for sure. He was trolling a fire tiger colored Rapala in about 25 feet of water on the east side.

Shelby & Ashley caught their very 1st fish ever by the dam on a GOLD Kastmaster.  Three boys from Nicolaus all caught a fish while staying here. Brandon hooked his 1st Trout, Xander Davis caught 2 Trout on a rubber grub, and Dillon Holmes trolled “an old lure” for his 3 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow catch!  Brad Kuemple of Chico used powerbait on the beach and caught 2 Trout.

Jason & Mike of Grass Valley caught a limit together, their biggest was a 4 lb. 8 oz. bow, most were caught in the middle past the island.

Martin Palacio of Meadow Vista hooked a 3 pound Rainbow on an inflated worm near the launch ramp.  Chase & Jack of Napa brought up a nice stringer of Trout and told us they used chartreuse Power Eggs & Kastmasters from shore.  Elias Davis & Christian Thomas from Nicolaus trolled grubs behind a Dodger and caught 5 Trout.  Butch Sonheim of SAC took a stringer of three Trout and one Bass.

Mike of SAC nets a 4 lb. 8 oz. German Brown Trout and his buddy Kevin of SAC beats him with his 8 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow Trout. Wow, now that’s a great story for them to share with their grandkids!!  The Brown took a worm & dodger combo and the Rainbow liked the Rapala that Kevin threw him. Micah & Chad of SAC netted a limit of Trout with their buddy LEE who led the pack with his 3 pound Rainbow, they trolled Fox silver spinners.  Mike & Sean of SAC were pleased as punch with their biggest Rainbows, a 3 lb. 8 oz. & a 2 lb. 8 oz. which they landed by the dam on Kastmasters.

Mike Reinoso of Oregon House trolled deep (around 40′) and hooked a 3 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow on a silver Kastmaster.  Steve Carpenter of SAC also trolled a dodger and a worm by the Open Area and caught a beefy 4 lb. 4 oz.  Trout  Steve & Collin of Browns Valley trolled a broken back rebel near the bridge and netted a 4 pounder.  From the sounds of things the fish have scattered and your chances are just as good at the bridge as they are at the opposite end which is the dam.

Kelly Jagd (our employee) shot her 1st Turkey near Collins Lake on her property, nice job KELLY!!
