We released the 1st of twelve net pens on Thursday 3/18 and will continue each week until the water temperatures warm up.  The same day we received a 1,000 lbs of  Trophy Trout and these plants will continue on a weekly basis for as long as it is possible (usually through the end of April).  On 3/18 Mark Damrel landed a gigantic 9 Pound Rainbow Trout off the beach (along with 4 others) on yellow powerbait.  Mark was using Stren 6 lb. Ultra thin line and didn’t even have a net.  He had to maneuver his monster Trout all on his own and “hats off to Mark” for a job well done!

Jaysen McDaniel caught a 2 lb. & a 3 lb. Rainbow on a Miner Moe Special and Ryan Carlson caught 2 Trout on the same thing.  I have to find out what that is, Miner Moes is a pizza parlor in Grass Valley!  Jerred Wuest & son Tyler had a terrific day trolling Kastmasters all over the lake, their biggest weighed 3 lb. 4 oz.  Walker Ott of Biggs limited out trolling a multitude of lures he said, from Needlefish and Cripplures to Rainbow Runners. Al Alvis of Antelope tried hard to beat Roger’s 4 lb. 9 oz. record from the week before but fell short!  He isn’t complaing at all, cause he took home a 3 lb. 9 oz. caught on a fire tiger Rapala!

Jason & Katie and kids took home a stringer of seven Rainbows and a 3 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow topped their catch!  They used chartreuse powerbait in the Open Area from shore.   Isabel Fajardo of Roseville netted a 3 lb. 8 oz. also down by the dam on powerbait.  Jay Lewis & Jaylyn caught their Trout near the beach on powerbait.  Ron & Phil were very proud of their Trout (one each-bigget 2 lbs.) trolling K-5 Rapala lures.

Chris & Daniel of Sutter went strictly for BASS and caught 2 limits on plastic worms while working the whole east side.  Zack Anderson of Browns Valley caught one the biggest Trout of his career by the bridge-it weighed 3 pounds!

Delia Rodriguez, Hal & Susan’s grandbaby caught her 1st Fish at Collins Lake this past week. You can’t miss her picture, she’s the cutie in pink shorts and pink boots!  She used yellow power eggs & worms from shore and her girly Trout weighed 2 pounds!!

Gary Speed caught lots of  Trout while camping here but his “Pride & Joy” was his 2 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow which he captured while enticing with orange powerbait. The Chavers family fished from shore and trolled and didn’t give up until they caught a limit. They trolled grubs with a flasher off the beach or shore fished by their site with Rainbow powerbait.

Adam Quiroga & Jesse Ingle brought up a nice Trout they got trolling by the dam using a Kastmaster.  Later on  Jesse brought up a Bass that he caught while tossing a rubber worm on the east side. Yotahm Beistock also netted a Trout by the dam on a gold Needlefish.

Bill Glidden of Sacramento left with a big smile and his 3 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow! He was trolling a lure by the beach real shallow he said.  Bonnie Mudrick of Oroville produced a limit of Trout off the beach on Rainbow powerbait (that’s why Leroy keeps her)!!

Doug Clark & Jimmy Trejo know how to “show off” their 2 limits of Rainbows, they always troll with Wobblers.  Their biggest one weighed in at 3 lb. 12 oz. and I’m not sure which one got it (so I’ll credit them both)
