Keith & Francine Daniels from Sacramento had a blast fishing from the boat dock using green PowerBait. They were in approximately 25′ of water and all together they took home 6 nice Rainbows. Zack Massey also fished from the dock using worms he managed to catch his 1st Trout on his 1st cast. It was meant to be Zack…………….
Pat Evans, a local contractor working in our area decided to fish Collins Lake after watching everyone else catch fish all year he just couldn’t stand it anymore. He grabbed his friend James Edwards and they went fishing, on their day off of course. James caught a nice Bass on a crawdad while still fishing, then “the troll began”. Pat blew everyone out of the water with his single Trout catch of an enormous 7 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow!! Pat told our staff it was “Pat’s Pig Food”.

Mike Mitchum & Grant Lien showed up one morning this week with so much enthusiasm and ready to catch a fish! After 20 questions, off they went with a bag full of lures and bundles of ideas as to how they were going to catch their fish that day. I caught them on their way out, holding a huge ice cream cone and asked them if they caught anything and they did!! Mike caught a Trout trolling a Rapala and Grant was still smiling (even though he didn’t catch a thing)!
Brad Kidwell of Roseville picked up a nice 3 lb. 8 oz. Catfish while trolling a Panther Martin for Trout. Blaine Machen of Marysville who usually limits out on Trout only got one lonely Rainbow last weekend. His Mom said fishing was tough, (for them anyway)! Doug Clark & Jimmy Trejo said last week was tough for them but this week they are “back in their groove”. They each limited out on Trout trolling Wobblers in about 30 feet of water.
Looks like the ideal 80 degree days won’t last much longer, this weekend it will be back in the 100’s. This will probably push the Trout down but no problem on Catfish, Crappie, & Bass they love the warm water. Try live crawdads, which we have for sale in the store. Worms are always a good universal bait, along with chartreuse PowerBait.
