Greg Byrkit from Hayward has camped every summer with his family since I can remember and this year is going to be one he’ll remember! He hooked a 6 lb. 4 oz. Largemouth Bass who fought dearly for his life but Greg won the battle. He caught it on a white popper just drifting near the buoys leading to the north end of our lake. His wife Debbie & their granddaughter Danielle were VERY PROUD of him!

The Yabut Family reunion was a huge success this year and they managed to stop playing long enough to fish a little and brought up a stringer of Rainbows for their fairwell photo! They fished off the dock on green powerbait at night. Kenton Hamel, John Price, & Jack Rodh from Penryn fished from a boat near the dam using powerbait and netted a 6 lb. monster Trout.
Congrats to Brian Le of San Jose for landing her 1st fish by the bridge on a worm, it was beautiful Crappie.

Hunter Winter & Tristan Rogers of Nevada used worms by the power lines and each landed 2 Cats, one weighed 5 lbs. and the other was 2 lb. 8 oz. Trevor Harris of Rio Linda topped all the catches this week with a 7 lb. Catfish which he caught by the dam using chicken livers. Kelsy Garrett of Galt also used worms from shore near the dam and caught a Trout. Khadijah Bowden of Citrus Heights fished from shore near the marina with worms and caught a Trout too.
It was a great week of fishing, with cooler temperatures in the 80’s giving our campers longer days to fish before the heat hit. Fishing from the dock is still exceptional or trolling about 25′ down. Bottom fishing from a boat works well as long as you are in at least 30′ of water.
