Try Night Fishing for Trout

[slideshow id=90]

Night fishing off the dock was very popular this week!! We saw multiple limits of Trout caught off the dock on powerbait or worms. Most fishermen use a lantern for light but the best method  by far is a floating light in the water used as an added attractant.  The Welty family of Vallejo took 7 Trout from the dock on powerbait.

Derick Cunningham of Biggs used nightcrawlers to attract his 6 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow off the dock. Chris Tom of Walnut Creek caught his limit of Trout night fishing off the dock on powerbait.  Trevor Lund & Mike Barron of Grass Valley figured out the hot spot (the dock) as well and hooked 6 Rainbows.

KIDS ROCK THE DOCK

Last week Hannah Herrera caught a big Trout and this week her brother Josh caught a bigger one, it was 4 lb. 4 oz. and they caught 8 total.  His Dad says he would not give up until he broke her record! The Herrera family (3 generations) camped all week and “nailed the Trout” all week long. They fished near the beach at night using rainbow powerbait.

Jake, Zach, Nathan & Joshua fished off the dock 2 nights in a row and caught Trout both nights using powerbait & worms.  We have 2 docks that people fish from, our rental boat dock is open to all fishermen and the marina dock is only for customers who pay to keep their boats there.  The rental boat dock is the HOT SPOT for campers who gather at night to fish and socialize. Jared Rodriguez of Martinez  caught an awesome Trout from the dock and Chris Owen of Fairfield caught a Redear Sunfish from the dock.

Bubba, Chris, & Manuel stayed up late night fishing at the dock and hooked 3 nice Crappie. Molly Triano & Larissa Christensen of Elk Grove concentrated more on  fishing and less on socializing I can tell because they almost limited out “after midnight” at the dock.  Jeff Browne of Knightston caught 2 Trout and the BIG PAPA one weighed 5 lb. 4 oz. He was trolling with Needlefish close to the dock!  Maddy Lanky of Vallejo used chartreuse powerbait and together with her Daddy they caught 3 Rainbow Trout.  A 2 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow Trout was caught by Mitch Molica & Danny Martinez on yellow powerbait down by the dam.

Devin Rameriz of Fairfield camps every summer with his grandparents and this summer was definitly one to remember. He did an amazing job fishing, his biggest was a 6 lb. 12 oz. Catfish he caught on crawdads. next he caught a 3 lb. 12 oz. Bass on a rubber worm while fishing the eastside from a boat.  Good Job Devin!!   David & Hailey Herrick brought up a 6 lb. 8 oz. Catfish they caught near the bridge on chicken livers. Joaquin Quintana of Chico also landed a Catfish that weighed 6 lbs. while Trout fishing under the power lines with powerbait.  Brandon & Joseph Godfrey, along with Jacob, Trenton, & Harmon of Oroville ganged up on a 5 lb. 8 oz. Catfish, caught using chicken livers.

8 yr. old Matt Peters of Gilroy “got lucky” according to his family!! Matt just “has what it takes” and they are jealous! He netted a 6 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow Trout from the shoreline near the dam on yellow power eggs.  Way to go Big Guy…..
