Summer has officially begun

Yep! It’s summer but don’t tell the Trout, they are still in the “Spring Mode”! Trollers are still dragging lures or worms at about 15′ to 20′ down with huge success. Drifting with powerbait or worms in 30′ of water is still netting limits of Trout.  The Whorton family of Petaluma drifted near the dam floating powerbait off the bottom and caught 9 Trout one  day and 2 limits more the next day.  Mike Zandonella and Tony Pearman did the same thing up towards the bridge and hooked a limit apiece. Mike’s brother Louie Zandonella & his friend Jimmy picked up 8 more Trout using green powerbait on the east shore. Louie’s son Dominick “loved his Trout” so much he even offered it a big  juicy kiss!

Norman Levi of Felton had the “Best Father’s Day Ever” according to him! He caught 4 Rainbow Trout with nightcrawlers off the dock that day. A lot of fathers spent their special day here with their kids with many great fish catches to report too. The Sisney family of Hayward all caught fish, from Trout to Redear Sunfish with worms.  Greg & John Guerra and kids “think big” when it comes to fishing. Among their many catches was a 6 lb. Trout and a 4-3/4 lb. Trout and both were caught on worms.

Olivia caught the BIGGEST TROUT this week! Olivia caught a monster 7 lb. Trout off the marina dock on a nightcrawler. This is the second week in a row that the biggest Trout was caught by a young lady!! Gary of Rohnert Park has had a wonderful season of fishing here at our lake.  His latest catch was a 5 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow which he caught on a nightcrawler he named “Fred”. I told his grandson it was good luck to name the worms before putting them on a hook, looks like it worked for him! Craig forgot to name his worm but he managed to hook 2 small Trout anyway.

Catfish are starting to bite!  Ramero Richmond of North Highlands was fishing by the dam with a worm and landed a Catfish that weighed 4 lb. 8 oz. on Father’s Day.  Paul Boettcher of Concord & his Grandsons Travis & Colin got a really big surprise this week while trolling an orange flame lure off the dam. They thought they had a Trout on, but it ended up being an 8 lb. 4 oz. Whiskerfish!!

Thomas of Napa fished with powerbait from his boat and caught 3 Rainbows and his biggest was a 6 lb. 4 oz.

Tristan & Nick and Maddie & Sean  fished from the dock with worms and each caught a Trout.

Trevor, Gus, & Zach  (the Three Musketeers) caught a stringer of 9 Trout at 2 in the morning floating worms off the bottom at the rental dock!!

Madison Denn of Fresno almost landed a limit of Trout (she got 4 total)!! She was in a boat using green powerbait under the powerlines.  Gino Guerra hooked a 4 lb. 4 oz. Trout off the marina dock on Powerbait, and he was smiling BIG!

Good Job to  Brian Yee of San Mateo, he caught his 1st Fish on a worm! Nothing is more rewarding to me than to see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they come up to get their fish photo taken.  We love a good fishing story so please share those with our staff!
